But in the world today, our words of faith have no meaning without the tangible sticks and stones to back them up. It is our “work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope” that are the real sticks and stones of life. The greatness of our actions gives power to our words. |

This is a hope for all eternity because through the death and resurrection of Jesus, the future of believers is secure. When Jesus returns, believers will be reunited with those who have died in the faith. |

Summary: Whether we are sleeping or awake, Christ will return like a thief in the night. No one knows when that will be, so we have to be prepared at all times. Paul's message to the Thessalonians is to stay sober, rest well at night and don't sleep in the light. Like the first-century church, we need to stay awake so that we don't miss seeing the Lord's work that surrounds us. |
