Summary: Compassion was the fuel for Jesus’ mission and work in the world. Based on the observed needs in the world, Jesus acted on behalf of others by serving those around him, praying for new workers to arise and empowering others to serve with him. |

Summary: All effective ministry springs from a heart of genuine compassion. When we treat the lost and hurting with kindness and mercy, we convey the unconditional love of God. Sometimes the exhausting scope of our ministry reflects the largeness of our heart for people. When this happens, we may need to narrow our focus a bit. In any case, Jesus wants us to serve from a willing and generous heart, because we are passing along what we have freely received from God. |

Summary: It is a blessing to have friends we can trust. The more, the better. Yet life often separates us from our friends. They move or we move. Age or infirmities may keep us apart. Then death may separate us.
There is one Friend, however, from whom we cannot be separated. It is our loving heavenly Father. God is the eternal Friend we can trust. St. Paul wrote: “God proves his love for us in that while we were sinners Christ died for us.” Count on that love.

Summary: Jesus commissioned the disciples for their new ministry, but were they ready for the hardships to follow? God calls us to new places, and his presence with us through Christ makes us up for the challenge despite our fears, roadblocks and detours. |

Summary: Sometimes the desire to take all the credit means we’re not good collaborators. No one was more qualified to take all the credit than Jesus, yet he made his disciples collaborators in the work of the kingdom, and even called out twelve apostles who would assume great responsibility for making choices as collaborators. If Jesus could share the credit with these ordinary people, shouldn’t we do the same? |

Summary: Jesus, after teaching, proclaiming the Good News and curing “every disease and every sickness,” called his disciples to that same ministry. We are called to that same ministry as well.
